Bengals sign Terrell Owens to one-year deal
Two of the NFL’s most prominent names will team up next year after the Cincinnati Bengals signed Terrell Owens to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
The move means Owens, or T.O as he is known, will team-up with Bengals star Chad Ochocinco, who like T.O is one of the most outspoken stars in the game. Owens signed a one-year deal worth $2million and according to reports could be worth up to $4million if incentives are reached.
According to reports, the Bengals were Owens’ first choice because of the chance to team up with Ochocinco. The Bengals’ training camp begins on Wednesday and Owens is expected to join his new team on Thursday when actual workouts begin.
In fact it was Ochocinco who broke the news of his friend’s arrival to Cincinnati via Twitter, with the tweet:
“#OCNNBREAKINGNEWS Terrell Owens is officially a Cincinnati Bengals, Cincy let's welcome him with open arms, it's on now!”
He then posted again just a few minutes later saying:
“@terrellowens we like batman n robin, siskel n ebert, ying n yang, bonnie n clyde but you're bonnie though.”
After having already created nicknames for their partnership, the media also go in on the act calling the pair TOcho, much like Brangelina for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. And with the NFL not taking kindly to excessive celebrating, the TOcho show could provide the NFL with some extra income this season especially when Ochocinco is willing to pay Owens’ fines for him.
“@terrellowens I will pay your fines this year also, i will take a pay cut! Wait, nevermind that last comment, I’m just excited, let’s go!” Ochocinco expressed via Twitter.
The two will also be playing with wide receiver Antonio Bryant, and with Carson Palmer at quarterback the Bengals should be one of the best throwing teams in the NFL next year.
