Bengie Molina considers retirement after World Series
Veteran Catcher, Bengie Molina, will be in one of the most unique positions when the World Series concludes soon. The Texas Rangers’ player will be getting the competition ring even if his team loses to the San Francisco Giants.
The reason behind that fact deals with Molina’s season history.
The 36 year old catcher played half of the season with the Giants before moving onto the Rangers in July, during the transfer window. He will be guaranteed new jewellery and with the expectation of performing in the big games,
the experienced batter will be considering a retirement. Though the ball player will be gifted by both sides featuring in the post season, his reliable catching days may be numbered, by his own statement.
Molina comments on his retirement: “It’s more a yes than a no right now. I’m not saying for sure because something can happen in the winter and it can get worked out. But, as for now, yes.”
Bengie may not be faring well in availing a multiyear contract due to his age, but he will be able to attain the one year pact when the next year goes into full swing. In hindsight, the catcher became a free agent last winter,
but due to the age, he wasn’t able to stretch his deal further. His role in leadership may be admired around Major League Baseball, but his contribution will surely hinder teams looking for a veteran catcher.
The big man had a batting average of .249 during the normal season. He contributed to the hitting role with 5 home runs and 36 runs batted in. The catcher can still lead a few knocks out of the park and his recent form in the post
season is something to be admired.
His last game against the New York Yankees was a less impressive display of stroke playing. However, the professional player was on the right role when he went against the Yanks in the 4th match in the American League
Championship. He had 4 at bats and 3 of those nicks went for hits. In addition to that, the player proved his worth when he rolled in 3 RBIs (Runs Batted In) and scored 2, himself.
