  1. According to Ayurvedic health , one ought to sleep no less than 12ins off the ground, so there would be none.

  2. I can't think of any. I hate sleeping on the ground, I think thats why I hate camping.  I remember waking up with a stiff neck and aches in weird places.

Give me a big dense foam mattress and my down pillow

  3. well this is an interesting question.  Although I am not certain of the answer, I just heard a video of someone discussing how the body is electrical as is now known and that some believe that this energy is gathered from the atmosphere entering are body through he top of the head and that the chi or prana (energy) that goes through the meridian channels must be grounded or it cannot build up and mess things up especially causing mental problems.  He says we should walk barefoot outside everyday as we need to contact the earth and to not use rubber soled shoes but rather natural materials like leather. Doing so will allow the electricity that builds up to release itself.

He told of a man who could barely sleep for like 20 years sleeping often just 15-20 minutes then pacing the floor.  the son had the dad walk for 10 minutes outside barefoot and the man went to sleep the next say they had to awake him as he overslept..the first time he slept the night plus more in 20 years.

Maybe sleeping on the ground has similar properties allowing for better sleep and releasing electrical energy from the body but it is I think very uncomfortable but maybe on a real soft cushion of certain high grasses it is better. I never thought about this till you asked the question but most of the stuff man does seems to be bad for him so maybe there are some unknown benefits from doing that which our ancestors often did that we as modern man don't know or think about.

also it may be good for the spine and straightening the spine and those with back problems..my ex-husband had back problems and put a board under the mattress as his back hurt less when he slept this way. I have heard it is better for the curvature of the neck to not use a pillow but we get used to sleeping with one and then cant as it may curve our necks to fit that extra boost..
