  1. Math, following directions, learning the unselfish act of doing something for someone else, science, learning that fire has its proper place in our life and is not to be disrespected, they'll learn how to socialize and hopefully, the teacher will share some etiquette with them as well.

  2. In addition to Beth's response...

    Social:

    -Teamwork

-Verbal communication when working with others.

-Cleaning up and putting things away so you can find the ingredients and utensils to make a cake at another time.

    -Acknowledging others who helped.

    Emotional:

-Considering other's feelings when turn taking or sharing the finished product.

    -Taking pride in an accomplishment.

    Intellectual:

    -Reading  the recipe.

-Understanding the parts of a Recipe: Ingredients, Utensils, Directions.

    Physical:

    -Placing decorations on the cake.

  3. emotionally there is a sense of accomplishment and pride.  My son LOVES to tell his friends all the steps involved in making the cake he brought to class with him.

  4. Hmmm that is a very good question.

Physically, Fine motor skills (using both hands to pour accurately (oil, vanilla, salt), cracking eggs,  holding something steady such as a measuring spoon or frosting utensil. Gross motor skills: mixing, eye/hand cordination when carrying and pouring heavy things like flour or sugar.

Intellectually:  Math  (measurement), following a sequence of instructions, 5 senses (hearing, touching, smelling, tasting, seeing). Safety (watching out for hot things, using a mixer properly if you use one), learning new vocabulary related cooking.

Socially: Hygiene (washing hands, not coughing or spitting in the mix), turn taking (if the child is sharing duties with others, for example), making something in celebration of someone else (such as a birthday or mother`s day present)  listening and following instructions.  Cleaning up after oneself.

Emotionally: Patience (waiting for cake to bake, and cool before frosting and eating), happiness and acomplishment with finished product.
