Going into the game, Chelsea knew that they had to win their game if they were to stand any chance of progressing to the next round, but at the same time Juventus had to lose their game, in order for Chelsea to make it to the knock out stages.
With the Blues winning their game by six goals to one, it was all down to how Juventus played in their game. Unfortunately for the English side,the Italian side went on to win their game, which saw them progress to the knock out stages of the competition.
Despite the outcome of last night’s results, Benitez is still happy with the way his side performed, and he feels that this win will give the players a much needed confidence boost going into their coming games.
At the same time, Benitez feels that his side now have the mental strength needed to go into the Europa League and potentially win that competition.
