Patrice Carteron-led Dijon are in 13th place in the Championnat and though they are just five points away from the relegation zone, Corgnet has every reason to smile.
Contacted by journalists, the 24-year-old midfielder cannot hide his satisfaction and says that the current campaign has been a great one for him and for his team. Though Corgnet admits that the team is still fighting for survival, they will be able to do
so if they keep on beating teams consistently.
In recent weeks, Corgnet has been very decisive for his side and operating in all midfield positions makes him a valuable asset to Carteron’s system.
While talking about the eight goals he has scored, that he has flourished while playing just behind the striker which is the reason why he always gets a lot of chances to score goals.
“I find I’m more influential, I have another role. I want to be more decisive and give a lot of passes to my teammates.”
Certainly, Corgnet is not alone in this view. Many clubs in Ligue 1 have noticed the 24-year-old’s consistent performances and would certainly make a move for him come the summer transfer window. The likes of Olympique de Marseille and AS Saint-Etienne have
been keeping tabs on the versatile midfielder for quite some time.
“I do not know if my future will be in France or abroad. If I get to go, I do not know where it will be. We shall see, I’d rather not talk too much because the most important thing is to stay with the club. Marseille and Saint-Etienne? It’s flattering to
hear that clubs are interested. But you have to see of everything is true. We can leave that aside for now.”
Though Corgnet is flattered by the interest of the two clubs, the Frenchman will certainly not be carried away by this.
