Benjamin Ertman and Masaki Fujitani win 200m back-stroke gold medal – 2011 Jimi Flowers Classic
Benjamin Ertman of All Star Aquatics and Masaki Fujitani of Shadow Seals-PN dominated the Men’s 200m back-stroke event to secure the gold medal, on the concluding day of the 2011 Jimi Flowers Classic.
The 15-year-old Ertman won the gold medal of the event in the S8 Multi-Disability category, by clocking a time of 3 minutes and 30.01 seconds. He was followed by John R Clos of Tigersharks Swimming-PN, who finished his swim in the second fastest place and
occupied the silver medal of the event, by touching the wall in a time of 4 minutes and 55.23 seconds.
In the S6 category Masaki Fujitani of Shadow Seals-PN failed to complete the equivalent event, as he was disqualified for his inappropriate strokes in the meet. The 18-year-old Fujitani completed the first lap of his race in a time of 1 minute and 25.20
second. In the second lap, Shadow’s swimmer touched the wall in a time of 1:41.07 minutes to post 3 minutes and 06.27 seconds on the board. He accelerated his swim in the third lap, where he touched the wall in a time of 4 minutes and 49.08 seconds, but was
barred in the final lap.
The S9 category was dominated by the 9-Sm9-Sb9 E Bureau of USA Resident Team-CO, as the team displayed a miraculous swim and stepped on the podium for the gold medal, by touching the wall in a time of 2 minutes and 40.36 seconds.
In addition, 7-7-7- A Lamback of USA Resident earned the gold medal of 200m back-stroke in the S7 category, as he touched the finishing wall in a time of 2 minutes and 50.62 seconds. Lamback appeared as the strongest contender for the gold medal of the four-lap
swim in the initial lap of the race, where he completed his first lap in a fastest time of 41.56 seconds. The 18-year-old swimmer continued his dominance in the remaining laps and pocketed the gold medal in a time of 2:50.62 minutes.
The arena admired the stupendous swims of disable swimmers, who demonstrated their wonderful swims and reached the podium for securing the top-three finishes.
