Benjamin Flores knocks out Hugo Pineda, devastates the latter's return – Boxing news
Benjamin Flores, widely known as BJ Flores, the current North American Boxing Organisations’ junior heavy weight champion and world’s number eight cruiserweight, showed the world his might by totally knocking the senses out of Hugo Pineda, the Colombian
southpaw.
Flores, infamous as El Peligroso, and Hugo Pineda were bound to take on each other in a 10-round bout at the Shrine Mosque situated in Springfield, Missouri in United States. The untitled fight depicted a one-sided bout from the very beginning when Flores
vigorously took on the Colombian Hugo giving him no chance in the initial three to four rounds.
The scenario was somewhat like Flores sparring on the Hugo, the punching bag but the whole situation changed altogether in the fifth round when Pineda replied with a series of powerful fists and punches which destabilised Flores’ feet a bit. Benjamin realising
that his opponent is wearing and tearing apart and has started to lose his senses a bit decided to unleash his final blows.
From the beginning of the sixth round Flores boosted up his energy level and attacked the 40-year-old Pineda rigorously taking optimum advantage of the returning Colombian. At two minutes 34 seconds the designated referee Mike England after realising the
grave situation Pineda’s body especially face entailed, the bout was halted and Flores came out victorious by collecting a total knock out.
Flores leashed his complete fury and obliterated the old man’s face by a continuous series of hammering fists. After the bout Flores, who was felt by all and sundry a man with intense energy that nobody has seen before, said, “I felt sharp tonight” and boasted
that, “this was my 3rd fight in 6 month and it was against a guy I was supposed to beat but beating someone impressively is always a tough thing. I executed my game plan and got him out faster than anybody else has ever knocked him out.”
Flores emphatic win over Pineda is being considered as an important war booty for the 32-year-old, but one aspect should be noticed that Pineda was making a comeback in his sport. This was his first brawl since July 19, 2008 and after a four year long gap
taking on an opponent totally in form and wearing a championship gold, definitely results in a total annihilation.
