Is his autobiography really that good? why?

  1. Yes. It is excellent in terms of espousing capitalist work ethic.

    Ben Franklin espoused the virtues of hard work.

    Franklin pretty much believed that if you worked hard, saved your money, you would be successful.

    Remember the following Franklin aphorisms: "A penny saved is a penny earned." "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." and "God helps them that help themselves."

    Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby was a self-made man. He looked for opportunities and then exploited those opportunities to make money. Franklin would have seen value in that type of work ethic.
