Benjamin Starke and Christian Vom Lehn impress at the German World Championship Trials
At the beginning on the sixth and final day of the German World Championship Trials, several sizzling performances were seen in Berlin, Germany, on June 5.
Initially, Benjamin Starke won the opening race in the Men’s 100m butterfly final with a sterling time of 51.65 seconds and broke Michael Phelps’ previous record of 51.75 seconds set in March, 2011.
Placed second was Steffen Deibler with a winning time of 52.74 seconds, whereas, Philip Heintz claimed bronze with a time of 53.07 seconds. Starke was immensely excited and jubilant after clinching the Men’s 100m butterfly title.
On the other hand, the Men’s 200m breast-stroke crown was taken over by Christian Vom Lehn with a winning time of 2 minutes and 08.97 seconds. The effort also improved him to 2nd spot in the world rankings. Naoya Tomita is placed first in the
world rankings with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 08.25 seconds.
Meanwhile, Tony Wiegmann earned silver medal in the corresponding meet with a time of 2 minutes and 14.67 seconds and Troy Arnicke captured bronze in a time of 2 minutes and 15.93 seconds.
The Men’s 200m freestyle title was nabbed by Paul Biedermann with a fastest time of 1 minute and 45.72 seconds. After the swim, he jumped into the 3rd place in the international rankings. Sun Yang and Yannick Agnel are placed first and second
in the world rankings with a time of 1 minute and 44.99 seconds and 1 minute and 45.47 seconds, respectively.
Securing second spot in the Men’s 200m freestyle final was Tim Wallburger with a victorious time of 1 minute and 47.61 seconds. Clemens Rapp grabbed bronze in a time of 1 minute and 47.78 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the Women’s 50m freestyle crown was captured by Britta Steffen with a scorching time of 24.67 seconds, while Dorothea Brandt earned silver in a time of 24.78 seconds. Lisa Vitting settled third in a time of 25.58 seconds.
The crowd appreciated the wonderful efforts of all participants in the events, while the winners were awarded with medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
