Benjamin Stasiulis captures Men’s 200m backstroke gold: Day two – 2012 Paris Open

Benjamin Stasiulis of France captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on second day of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Saturday, July 7.
The French swimmer wasted no time in the distant backstroke discipline as he earned his way to the finishing end for gold medal.
His invincible efforts placed him half body length ahead of his closest competitor as he hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 00.10 seconds for gold medal.
Stasiulis was chased by Jan Philip Glania of Germany, who stayed 0.60 seconds apart and proved his eligibility for second position of the event with an effort of 2 minutes and 00.70 seconds.
Third position of the 200m event was secured by Joris Hustache of France, who remained almost four seconds apart and made his way to the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.16 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Ross Muir of Great Britain, who was 2.63 seconds slower from the bronze medallist and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 06.79 seconds.
Last event of the session was Women’s 100m freestyle final, where Femke Heemskerk of Netherlands outsmarted her opponents for gold medal. Heemskerk stayed two strokes ahead of her compatriot, Inge Dekker and submitted a time of 54.88 seconds for gold medal.
Subsequently, Dekker remained 0.35 seconds apart and reported 55.23 seconds for silver medal. Third finest spot of the race was secured by Veronika Popova of Russia, who stayed 0.27 seconds away from upsetting her foregoing finisher and produced a time of
55.50 seconds.
Popova was trailed by Yolane Kukla of Australia, who stayed just 0.02 seconds slower from improving her position and finished fourth in the event with an effort of 55.52 seconds.
Kukla was chased by French swimmer, Charlotte Bonnet, who remained 0.04 seconds apart and ended her sprint in fifth place with the timing of 55.56 seconds.
Stasiulis was pleased with his victory in the distant backstroke discipline and stressed that he will try his level best to make his fans proud by accomplishing the same at upcoming swimming events.
