Benjani out to prove himself at Blackburn Rovers and Dirk Kuyt out for 4 weeks

Former Manchester City striker, Benjani has said that he will try to rediscover his form at his new club Blackburn Rovers.
Benjani has completed a one year deal at Rovers, and has the option of extending his stay after the first year runs out. The front man from Zimbabwe has joined his 4th club in the English Premier League after having spells at Manchester City, Portsmouth and Sunderland.
The African front man was not able to get much first team action at Manchester City; he played just 26 first team games in 2 seasons. He was plagued by some injuries and also fell out of favour with the team management.
Sam Allardyce, the manager of Blackburn decided to bring the striker to Ewood Park, and sealed the deal just before the deadline for the summer transfer window ended.
Benjani said that the only thing on his mind now is to prove that he can still mix it with the best, and prove to his new team that it was money well spent on him.
While talking to a British newspaper Daily Telegraph, Benjani said that it is not that hard to rediscover his form. All he needs is some good time on the training ground and some first team action.
He said that he is delighted to be at Blackburn, and he is sure that he will be able to score goals once again and become a regular fixture in the first 11.
Benjani said that the truth is that, no other clubs came calling for him and Rovers was the only choice he had. But that does not mean that he did not want to be here. He said that he loves the English Premier League and wants to stay here, so he pounced on the first opportunity he got to make a move.
The Zimbabwe international added that he did have 2 other offers but they were not from England, and he was waiting to get an offer from the Premier League.
The front man said that as a striker the only thing a player wants to do is to score goals, he admitted that he will face stiff competition at Rovers for a place upfront but he is willing to fight it out.
Benjani said that when he moved to Manchester City, he thought that it was going to be a long term deal. He said that he was enjoying his initial days at City and did score some goals, but injuries came at a bad time and hampered his progress.
Meanwhile Liverpool’s Dutch striker, Dirk Kuyt has suffered a shoulder injury while playing for Netherlands in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. The front man will be out for at least 4 weeks.
Kuyt was training with his national team ahead of the international qualifier against Finland, where he encountered an awkward fall when tackled by a team mate. He was soon flown to Liverpool where he went through some tests and scans.
Peter Bruckner the Liverpool doctor said that the injury is not that serious, but he would have to sit out for at least a month. Peter said that Kuyt has suffered some damage in the A-C joint that is between the collarbone and the shoulder. The striker was on target for Netherlands in their last match, he scored from the spot in a 5-0 win against San Marino on Friday. Kuyt has also been on the score sheet for Liverpool this season; he netted a goal for his club in the 2-1 win against Trabzonspor in the UEFA cup play off.
