Benlass is Amazing in A6 victory at Hall Green
The Hall Green Greyhound Stadium in Birmingham is one of the busiest 480m tracks in greyhound racing, and it’s no stranger to seeing some of the best dogs run to amazing results on the track.
On Wednesday, Benlass Amazing (4-1) raced to an amazing result in the A6 race. When she emerged from trap four, she moved quickly away from the rest of the pack. She led for the entire duration of the
race, and she parlayed that into a first-place finish in 29.35 seconds. Ever Absent (7-2) was absent from the top spot, but he still finished a respectable second in 29.45. He was 1¼ lengths behind the winner.
Crossing the finish line to claim third place was Cross Bar (8-1). He was a single length behind Ever Absent in 29.53, despite having crowded first and being forced to check third. Fourth place went to
Cloneen Roxy (5-1), who crowded and was also forced to check first. But she quickly recovered to finish ¾ lengths out of the top three in 29.59.
Geneva Tommy (3-1) bumped fourth on the way to a fifth-place finish in 29.73, which placed him 1¾ lengths behind Cloneen Roxy. He was a replacement in trap six for Outlier Classic, who did not participate
in this race. Finishing last was Avonside Knight, the 5-2 favourite. He did not have a good run today, as he finished the race in 29.99, which was 3¼ lengths out of the fifth position.
The A5 race that followed featured a very interesting result. Before the race, the odds makers billed Supreme Jet and Lagganmore Mally as joint 5-2 favourites. Only one dog could take the victory, though,
and it was Supreme Jet who managed to do so. An early pace from trap four led her to a 28.99 finish that gave her the win. Fellow favourite Lagganmore Mally was 3 lengths behind Supreme Jet in 29.23. He also held an early pace, and he went on to challenge
third en route to a second-place finish.
Newgrange Champ (5-1) finished in third place behind the joint favourites after crowding second. His finishing time of 29.37 was 1¾ lengths out of second place. The fourth-place finisher was Moonvoy Ace,
whose time of 29.61 placed him 3 lengths out of the top three.
Watch The Freeby (7-2) watched as four other dogs passed her, as she placed fifth in 29.83, 2 ¾ lengths behind Moonvoy Ace. Rounding out the pack was sixth-place finisher Libbys My Girl, the 10-1 long
shot. She experienced some difficulty in this race, and finished lame in 32.23.
Hall Green Greyhound Stadium will host its next race night on Friday 15 October. A 13-race card will be featured, and the racing will get under way with an A8 race at 19:35.
