Benoit Paire bows out to David Goffin in the final qualifying round – Sony Ericsson Open 2012

Qualifying fifth seed, Benoit Paire, was dumped out by the Belgian rising star, David Goffin, in straight sets at the Sony Ericsson Open 2012 on Tuesday. He endured a 2-6, 2-6 loss at the hands of the world number 148 in the final round of the qualifying
competition at this hard court tournament taking place at Key Biscayne in Miami.
Paire displayed dismal performance and was eventually underplayed by the 21-year-old in 68 minutes. The French failed to seek any break opportunity and blocked only three out of seven breakpoints he faced, subsequently exiting from the qualifiers with frustration.

96th ranked Paire made a wobbly entry at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park and suffered the first blow in the third game to go 1-3 down. He held his serve once more but lost his track again, consequently suffering a 2-6 defeat.
The 22-year-old barely did anything in the proceeding set and lost the opening four games to trail at 0-4. In spite of holding his remaining two serves, Paire beard a shocking 2-6 loss.
Summing up the higher ranked contestant’s performance, the seed spilled several unforced errors and seven double faults. He also manifested a poor first serve share of 38 per cent as opposed to the Belgian’s 47 per cent and finished the match with 44 points.
Goffin on the other side of net advanced into the main draw at this ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Masters 1000 event. He will face the local contestant, Donald Young, in the opening round.
The fourth seed, Matthias Bachinger, also faced a similar fate later that day. He suffered a 2-6, 4-6 loss against the world number 144, Rajeev Ram, in 66 minutes.
The German seed lost his serve twice in the opening set and gifted away the opener in almost half an hour. Bachinger carried his drastic ways in the following set and after failing to save the lone breakpoint he encountered, the German exited from the qualifying
competition at this event.
Ram on the other hand booked a first round place where Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez awaits him.
