The FC Girondins de Bordeaux left-back is keen to play for the Aquitaine club in the Europa League next season but does not know what the future holds for him
Widely considered as one of the best left-backs in the country, FC Girondins de Bordeaux’s Benoit Tremoulinas has been a treat to watch for the Aquitaine club since 2007.
The 26-year-old has often been linked with a move away from the Stade Chaban Delmas. This time, the player has been linked with moves to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 and has also attracted several German Bundesliga clubs.
However, despite so many suitors, Tremoulinas is still a Bordeaux player. Though he is under contract until June 2014, Tremoulinas still has no idea what the future holds for him.
While talking to Paris, the Lormont-born player said that he is not really contemplating on the transfer market as he wants to prepare himself well for the next season.
“I do not know. This is the beginning of the season and, for now, I’m not thinking much about it (transfer). The market is quiet everywhere. It’s hard for everyone to make a financial plan. I want to have a good preparation to be in the condition to start
the Championnat. Otherwise, we’ll see,” said Tremoulinas before adding that a transfer will be the last thing on his mind.
However, the player has still left a door open on a move away from the club after a year or so. The prospect of playing in the Europa League next season excites Tremoulinas.
While talking about a possible contract extension, the 26-year-old cast a little doubt on his future when he revealed that he has not yet met the president.
“I have not yet met the president; the objective of the early season is to do well in order to enjoy the Europa League. This means a lot of games to play, but it’s more exciting.”
Though a move away from Bordeaux will happen someday, it appears that Tremoulinas is happy with his current surroundings at the moment. However, with Les Girondins keen on signing a few more players, Tremoulinas may yet be sacrificed to free up some cash.
