Benson Henderson talks trash against Nick Diaz – UFC News
Benson Henderson is getting ready to defend his lightweight title against Nick Diaz. Henderson has taken a step further by provoking Diaz verbally. According to Henderson, Diaz is a person who likes to talk c**p for his opponents. While the fight between
the two is scheduled for next month at UFC on Fox 5, Henderson has already started getting under Diaz’s skin.
Henderson currently stands with 17 wins and 2 losses in MMA, and 5 wins and 0 losses in UFC, while Diaz stands with 16 wins and 7 losses in MMA, and 11 wins and 5 losses in UFC. It seems like Henderson has had enough of Diaz’s trash talk.
“The biggest thing I've had a hard time with so far, to be honest, is we've been having my teammates talk a little bit of trash inside the octagon and have me stay calm and not be worked up,” said Henderson on Monday to AXS TV’s “Inside MMA”.
“I actually have a hard time with that. Somebody talks trash to me, I want to talk trash back. I get emotional back to them. So, I've been working on staying calm and collected and still do my technique and not fall into his game,” he added.
“I've got to get a little more work on that, though.”
Henderson is well aware of the fact that Diaz is more than just trash talking and so he is on working on to face him the cage well. According to Henderson, he is preparing for the physical tools Diaz has to offer, such as his long reach and boxing style.
It seems like Henderson is quite confident of defeating Diaz. Henderson asserted that his teammates, Effrain and Joe Riggs, were told by his coaches to talk c**p to him in order to test his patience. Henderson further added that he does not like being addressed
that way but it is a technique of making him practice for what Diaz has to offer in the cage.
For now, Henderson is hopeful that he will easily pass Diaz test. On the other hand, Diaz believes Henderson is no match for him.
