Tottenham Hotspur winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rostov-c39192 and wants to break his ‘bad boy’ image.
The out of favour midfielder was once rated as one of England’s brightest young prospects. The player started his career with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 Academy but was unable to establish himself in the first team set up after progressing through the ranks.
He underwent two loan spells while at Arsenal, and then completed a permanent move to Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 in 2006. The player spent two years at Ewood Park, where he managed 13 goals in 88 appearances.
After an impressive run in with the club, Bentley moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008. Bentley was still highly rated, but fell out of favour at the club when Harry Redknapp was appointed as manager. The player saw his playing career decline under the new
boss, and was sent out on loan to Birmingham City and then West Ham United.
However, a knee injury ruled the player out for six months, and he spent most of his second loan spell on the sidelines. Bentley returned to Tottenham to receive treatment, and was later named in the Spurs 25-man squad, despite his injury.
The player saw his chances of first team football diminish as new manager Andre Villas-Boas signed midfielders Gylfi Sigurdsson, Moussa Dembele and Clint Dempsey. Bentley completed another loan move this summer, this time to Russian club FC Rostov.
The player is looking forward to his loan spell, and has high hopes of breaking into the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team squad and breaking his bad boy image.
Speaking to the press, Bentley said:
"I think there's a big stigma around me in England. The picture that Tottenham painted of me was so wrong.”
"I've heard a lot of managers ringing players up and saying, 'I've heard he's trouble.'"
"It's time for a fresh start - get rid of those shackles and get away from England for a while to go to somewhere to be judged on what I can do on the pitch rather than something that's completely wrong about me."
"Now I'm going to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 to show it's all about football.”
