The Bianconeri director believes that Italian clubs can no longer compete against giant economic powers like Manchester City; reveals Agnelli is the key behind the club’s turnaround.
Juventus director, Beppe Marotta, believes that Italian clubs have lost their former economic strength, and insists that it is becoming increasingly difficult for a club like the Old Lady to compete with economic giants that can
spend millions.
The Bianconeri were recently crowned the Champions of Serie A, and will compete against the best clubs from all over Europe in the next season's UEFA Champions League.
Marotta insisted that he has created an ideal model for a football club that wants do well in the turbulent economic times. The Bianconeri chief stated that the key to their model is the structure that defines specific tasks for
everyone.
The Old Lady executive stated that the appointment of Agnelli was a turning point for the Turin giants, as he provided everyone with a sense of belonging.
The director also revealed that it was the President who chose Antonio Conte to take over the reins of the team, because the tactician understood the Bianconeri's environment, and what it means to wear the Juve jersey.
While talking to Corriere dello Sport, the 57-year-old said:
“We are proud to have created with Juventus the model for a football club. It all started with the return of an Agnelli to the Presidency, who gave everyone a sense of belonging. We also must not underestimate the structure, where
everyone has their own specific tasks. The Coach also knew the environment and what it meant to be a Juventino. Choosing Antonio Conte was down to Andrea Agnelli.”
Juventus are set to re-enforce their squad in the summer transfer window in preparation of the next season’s UEFA Champions League, but the Bianconeri director insists that the task is easier said than done.
