The Bianconeri chief has stressed that his club has nothing to do with Siena’s decision to acquire 50 percent share in the young striker, but maintains his interest in acquiring the player.
Beppe Marotta has snubbed all notions that Juventus is behind Siena’s decision to buy half-share in Mattia Destro, and has stated that he is closely following the situation.
The Genoa striker was sent on loan to the Robur for the 2011-12 season, with an option to co-own at the end of the season.
Siena previously had shown little interest in acquiring the half-share in the young striker but recently took up the option, and many suggest that the Old Lady has a hand in the deal.
Marotta admitted that Destro has all the right attributes to shine at a club like Juventus, and admitted that the club is closely following the changing situation regarding the striker’s future.
However, the Old Lady chief sidelined all notions of his club’s hand in the Siena’s decision to buy the half-share, stating that they have nothing to do with the deal.
The Director General of Vecchia Signora stressed that he intends to bid for the player in the summer transfer window, and stated that he is closely following the developments to determine the true owners of Destro before a bid can be placed.
Marotta stressed that Juventus is not fixated with star strikers or top players, and revealed that the transfer strategy of the club is to buy players that will be an asset for the team’s future.
While talking to Sky Sport Italia, the 57-year-old said:
“Destro has a profile that we like. We are following the situation, but we are not behind Siena’s stance. All we are doing is watching developments because we don’t know yet with which club we should negotiate with. We are not looking for stars or top players,
we want those who can fit into the team who can make a difference today and tomorrow. Is Destro one of those? Yes.”
