The Turin director believes that his team will be underdogs in the upcoming clash against the Rossoneri, and brands the Italian Champions as best in Europe.
Juventus director general, Beppe Marotta, believes that A.C Milan are favourites to win the upcoming Serie A clash between the two sides.
While talking to the reporters, Marotta said:
“Milan will start the tie as favourites. They are the reigning Italian champions and are one of the eight strongest sides in the European game.”
The Italian Champions will host the Bianconeri in a potential title deciding encounter on Saturday, February 25.
A.C Milan currently lead the league table with a one-point lead over the Turin giants, who have a game in hand.
After struggling in the league since their return to the top flight, Juventus have performed exceedingly well in the ongoing campaign. The Lady Killers have remained unbeaten in all competitions and have played the best football
in the country.
Marotta is full of praise for his team’s turnaround in the ongoing season, and remarked:
“Nevertheless, we are proud of what we have managed to achieve in these years in order to become competitive again.”
The Turin chief refused to talk about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s chances of playing against his side, and insisted that the football authorities will decide it.
“I won’t try to predict whether Ibrahimovic will be eligible or not. I haven’t seen the appeal documents so I can’t comment on it.” Added the Bianconeri chief
The Italian Champions have lodged an appeal against the Swede’s three-match ban for slapping Salvatore Aronica against Napoli recently.
The statement from Marotta could possibly be an attempt of the “hare and the tortoise” tactic famously used by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho against Manchester United. The Portuguese used to present his team as the underdogs
before the match, and then blow the opposition off-balance with an aggressive display.
While any potential impact of the statement remains to be seen, it will be the display on the pitch rather than the words that will decide the eventual frontrunner.
