The Turin director general believes that his team has failed to perform well against the mid-table outfits, and insists that Serie A is the most balanced league.
Juventus were held to another draw by a lowly ranked opposition, as they played a goalless stalemate against Siena on Sunday, February 5.
The Turin giants have struggled against the mid-table teams this season, as all four of their stalemates at Juventus Stadium have come against minnows.
Marotta is concerned with his team’s performances against weaker oppositions, and believes that his team is facing difficulties in scoring goals against them.
While talking to Radio Rai, Beppe Marotta said,
“We’ve drawn with four mid-table sides, teams who are not amongst the top outfits. This demonstrates that we do have problems in getting through these defences. However, I do think that Serie A is the most balanced championship
in Europe.”
When questioned about the penalty incident against Siena, Marotta was not pleased with the referee’s decision to wave play, as a Siena player had handled the ball inside the box.
“I just wanted to highlight the fact that there needs to be more attention when deciding which referees are given which games. I’ve always said that the big teams need to have the best and most experienced referees. Certain games
need experienced officials and a referee who knows how to handle difficult situations.”
Despite the draw at the weekend, the Old Lady remain atop the league standings with 45 points from 21 matches played thus far. They are one point clear of second placed A.C Milan, who have also played an extra game.
Marotta is looking forward to the first-leg of Coppa Italia semi-final against the Rossoneri, and he is not concerned whether http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 will feature or not.
“The game against Milan is important and boss Antonio Conte will prepare for it in the manner he always does, no matter whether Ibra plays or not.” added the Turin chief
The first-leg of the semi-final will be played at San Siro on Wednesday, February 8.
