Rubin Kazan record a 3-2 win in the return leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter final against Chelsea FC at Luzhniki stadium on Thursday night after producing a ferocious display in front of their home fans.
The Kazan-based club came from behind to level the much anticipated European encounter twice and managed to seal the win by scoring the third goal from the penalty spot.
However, their brilliant display was over shadowed by Rafael Benitez’s men as they were denied a chance to reach the semi-final of the continental tournament.

Though Berdyev accepted the defeat whole heartedly, the 60-year-old coach was not happy with the team’s defence that conceded a similar goal from the Spanish International in the return leg.
“If you analyze, we conceded a similar goal that we conceded in the first leg by the same player. We need to work on the long balls to become stronger defensively.”

“But I am disappointed with the fact that we did not pass to the next stage, of course.” Berdyev was quoted as saying.
The Russian Premier League club’s latest defeat ended their chance to win silverware this season, having already lost ground to win the league title against teams such as CSKA Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg respectively.
As things stand, the Tatary are at the fourth spot on the league table with 39 points and trail the top of the table by massive 17 points.
Berdyev went on to lavish praise on his side despite the European defeat, saying that they showed true character.
