Vasili Berezutski has suggested Igor Denisov to return to Zenit St. Petersburg after earning reputation of a controversial figure following a salary issue
CSKA Moscow and the Russian national team central defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Denisov-c16694, to return to Petrovsky stadium in order to sort out all his issues with
the management of the club.
Denisov found himself in the centre of controversy after refusing to enter the pitch in the Russian Premier League tie against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara at Metallurg Stadium last month.
The 28-year-old midfielder reportedly made life difficult for him after making a fuss of the situation as why the St. Petersburg club pay more money to the new comers: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Axel-Witsel-c7029 respectively.
Consequently, the management of the club penalized Denisov to train with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 for an unspecified period.
However, despite Denisov’s unprofessional behaviour at the club level, the prolific midfielder still managed to earn a national team call-up for the World Cup qualifying matches against Portugal and Azerbaijan respectively.
Berezutski went on to admit his surprise on the growing trend of the Russian top division clubs to offer more money to foreigners, saying that the local guys tend to make more money in some of the biggest league’s in the World.
“There thing surprises me in Russia. We thank the foreigners that they come here to play in our country but they always get a cut above the local players with the same quality and in the same position. These types of situations
de-motivate local players in the team.”
“I could not understand why some commentators and the Russian media blame Denisov for what happened. Every player has a right to argue over any matter. The club needs to sort out this issue. In my opinion, if the player gets paid,
it must be accordingly to his skills.”  The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Berezutski fired a barb at some of the foreign players in the domestic championship, saying that he knows some outsides that play regularly in their teams despite failing to meet the level of the Russian top division.
