  1. Wow....Im sure glad I stayed up to answer this or you may never get a reality check.  This question really reaffirms why I stay up late at night and answer questions regarding college and college majors.

Avoid the following Majors in College:

Dance, Music, Art, Art History, Liberal Arts, Communciations, Psychology, anthropology and Sociology.

Do not at any cost major in the Humanities.  They are good for minors only.

Major in Eng, anything related to medicine, busines (w/minors in finance, accounting and other majors that have high returns).

The reality after college is that you will need to find a job or be prepared to move home again.

I was once told that when you discover a field to make money in it is there you will find your career.  I dont believe that that is entirely true but money really, really helps.

So make sure that you major in something relevent to the current job market.

I know someone on here will say that "we cant predict the job market in 4-5 yrs."  This is just not true.  I know many people who graduated with degrees in useless stuff (myself included) and had problems finding work.  So please take my advice.  Major in something that you can get a job in.  You can sell rap CD's on the side after work and who knows may be some music savant. But chances are if you are going into college without knowing an instrument you arent one.

  2. I agree with John R.

Majoring in Music Business is very risky and going to Berklee is going to cost you a lot of money as opposed to a public Uni. So, basically, you'll be paying more money to go to BCOM for an equally useless degree.
