Berlian Sudrajat ousts Tan Wei Han in Men’s Singles first round of Indonesia International Challenge
Indonesia’s Berlian Sudrajat ousted Singapore’s Tan Wei Han in the Men’s Singles first round of the 2011 Victor Indonesia International Challenge, in Indonesia, on Tuesday, July 19.
Berlian played to his full potential in the opening set against a spirited Tan Wei, who was playing with great precision. The Indonesian was lucky in winning the match, as the Singaporean delivered a tremendous performance in the opening set of the encounter.
However, Berlian clinched the remaining games by playing flawless badminton and advanced into the second round of the Indonesia International Challenge.
The opening game of the match was very close until the ending points of the set. The score was 20-20, when the Singaporean delivered a stunning performance as his movement became fast in all areas of the court. He managed to score two successive points and
bagged the set with a 22-24 margin, in 22 minutes.
The second game was a complete reversal to the first set, where the Indonesian played top-class badminton and reached 11-7, without wasting any time in the court. Tan Wei tried to continue his aggressive run, but failed as his opponent’s defence became too
strong.
After the interval, Berlian continued dominating the game by playing at his best, as he spared no chance for his challenger to play an attacking game throughout the entire set. Berlian won the game by 21-14, in just 17 minutes and levelled the match.
The third game of this wonderful battle was quite entertaining for the Indonesian crowd that turned out to support the local shuttler. Berlian played perfect badminton in this set, as he was proceeding with considerable comfort because his rival was not
putting up any sort of resistance.
The Indonesian was miles ahead of Tan Wei, who failed to play a positive game. Berlian ended the final set in a remarkable manner as he clinched it with a big margin of 21-12, in just 16 minutes. This entertaining 55-minute rubber-set battle finished-off
with a 22-24, 21-14 and 21-12 score on the board.
