The celebrations continue for the new Formula One World Champion, Sebastian Vettel. The Red Bull driver has reached his home town, Heppenheim in Germany earlier this week where the overwhelmed and excited crowd greeted him in high
spirits and roaring applause. The Red Bull driver is now ready for the final celebration with his countrymen as he will give an exclusive run through demonstration in Berlin this Saturday.
Since his victory two weeks ago, the young German driver is touring, celebrating his Championship. Vettel had a whale of a time in Abu Dhabi as his team cherished the home coming of two of the most prestigious titles in the auto
racing world, the Formula One Constructor’s Championship and Driver’s Championship. Later, the 23-year-old enjoyed a jovial tour to Austria and then Milton Keynes, England, the bases of Red Bull Racing. Earlier this week the triumphant driver reached his home
town, Heppenheim Germany where around 25,000 locals celebrated his success.
Now, the new champ is getting ready to have yet another memorableday in his life this weekend as he will be driving his title-winning RB6 in front of all his German fans. The drive will go down Berlin’s ‘Fan Mile’ and will end
at the historical Brandenburg Gate.
The driver bagged the first title of his life two weeks ago at the nerve tickling Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which marked the last race of the 2010 Formula One season. The driver has had a very tough time of it against some of the best
in the racing world: 2008 Champion Lewis Hamilton, two times World Champion Fernando Alonso, 2009 Champion Jenson Burton and fellow teammate title contender, Mark Webber. However, after as arduous battle all through the season, Vettel came out on top.
With this victory, Vettel has become the youngest World Champion, at the age of 23 years and 199 days, breaking the record of Lewis Hamilton who took the title from Fernando Alonso in 2008.
Moreover, now the young man stands as the only second German racer to have clinched the World Championship. Before Vettel, Michael Schumacher had been the only German title winner, who also holds the record of maximum Championship
wins in the sport’s history with seven titles.
While talking to the media earlier this week Vettel expressed immense joy at winning in a season which he considers to be one of the toughest year’s ever in Formula One. Until the very last round, the Championship was to all five
drivers.
Vettel further said, “I have always wanted to turn a few rounds through Berlin and on Saturday I can finally fulfill this wish. I just want to thank all my fans at home in Germany for their support and give them the opportunity
to experience the RB6 up close and to celebrate the title with me.”
Following Saturday’s demonstration, Vettel will immediately leave for Düsseldorf where he will drive alongside Schumacher to defend the Nations Cup which they have been successfully bagging since for the past three years consecutively
at the multi-discipline Race of Champions event. The event will also see Alain Prost, the four-time Formula One World Champion, representing France in the race.
Not only Vettel himself but all his fans also anticipate seeing the racer at both these grand events, and hope to see him secure another victory for the country.
