Indonesia’s Berliyan Sudrajat played impeccable badminton and secured a berth in the Women’s Singles quarter-finals of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open on November 6, 2012.
She cast out Zakia Ulfa with an impressive result of 21-14 and 21-14 in a 30-minute encounter which was staged at local badminton complex of Denpasar.
Though, this pre quarter-final match ended in just two games but still the victorious shuttler had to put an extra effort to seal a straight-set victory.
With such an emphatic performance, Berliyan setup her next clash with Arinda Sari Sinaga in the round of eight.
She will employ all of her experience to continue her unbeatable run in this tournament. The critics are giving her better odds as she has registered her class in the preliminary stages.
In the second round, Berliyan alarmed all the contestants by stamping Zakia with a 2-0 margin. She set the foundation of her supremacy by pocketing the opening match point and then served notice of her dominance by claiming the second set.
The first set heated up straight away in the beginning as Berliyan unleashed a series of power packed strokes and gained an early advantage.
She relished full benefits of this psychological edge and placed a respectable total of 11 before the interval.
She did not drop her pace even after the mid-game break and won first set of the match with a significant lead of seven points. She piled up an overwhelming margin of 21-14 and setup a nerve-racking second set.
The following game was also played in similar fashion as Zakia failed to end her bad patch and remained at the lower end all the way to the final moments.
Meanwhile, Berliyan showed consistency in her performance and stole the limelight with a lustrous performance.
She made her intentions straight by ruling the court in couple of consecutive rallies and this initial advantage helped her to finish this set in a favourable manner.
The Indonesian youngster placed an impressive score of 21-14 and qualified for the quarter-final round of this tournament. She will have to go all out to ensure her presence in the final rounds of the home event.
