Berliyan Sudrajat topples Arinda Sari Sinaga in quarter-finals of 2012 Flypower Bali Open

Women’s Singles event of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open got another semi-finalist when Berliyan Sudrajat unseated Arinda Sari Sinaga in a quarter-final match on November 8, 2012.
This epic tussle prolonged to 60 minutes and both contenders had to put an extra effort to read the final figures of 21-12, 18-21 and 21-17.
The victorious shuttler prevailed in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the other Indonesian campaigner could pocket only one match point.
Berliyan Sudrajat, who holds fifth spot in the tournament ranking, played impeccable badminton and locked the honour with 2-1 margin.
She made her intentions clear by snatching the first match point with a gutsy knock and served notice of her dominance by ruling the court in most part of the game.
In first half of the opening game, Berliyan launched a brisk attack and confined her competitor in the rear court.
She gathered valuable points with her well placed strokes and placed an indomitable score of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, she made a swift progress and left the opposing shuttler far behind with a winning margin of 21-12.
However, Arinda did not remain at lower end permanently as she brought the contest to right balance in the very next game.
This time she played with the right attitude and fortitude to gain an early advantage. This aggressive approach helped her to keep Berliyan under control all the way to game point situation.
She mounted pressure by registering a respectable total before the announcement of one-minute break. She did not fritter away this initial lead and strengthened her grip with couple of consecutive points in third quarter of the set.
She maintained this rhythm in the final stage and swept the table with a significant figure of 21-18.
This revised match score position made third set crucial and both shuttlers put all they had to oust their opponent.
They stood toe-to-toe in most part of the game and this nerve-racking tussle ended when Berliyan piled up a decisive margin of 21-17.
Now she will lock horns with Elizabeth Matindas to ensure her presence in the title match of this tournament.
