Silvio Berlusconi, President of AC Milan, has quashed implications that the Rossoneri are not as competitive as before, and stated that he believed in the team.

The Rossoneri have seen many of their experienced legends leave the club in the summer of 2012 and there has been depletion in the quality of the squad. Many have gone so far as to say that this will be the end of an era for the San Siro giants, as their
team is lacking superstars.
Criticism and scepticism over the side grew after the Rossoneri outfit sold their two top talents, in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain. After initially blocking the transfer of Thiago Silva to PSG for 47 million Euros, PSG’s second
bid was accepted at a relatively less value, with the player transferring for a fee of 42 million Euros.
PSG lodged a joint bid for Ibrahimovic and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903, and the bid of 60 million Euros was accepted. After their departures from the team, AC Milan have failed to recruit appropriate replacements for the players. The point of concern for many of the Milanello
fans is that the biggest signing so far has been that of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Riccardo-Montolivo-c31049 who came in on a Bosman transfer from Fiorentina.
The former Italian Prime Minister refuted all suggestions by the media on the strength of Milan, and went on to laud the attacking options at Massimiliano Allegri’s disposal. He was talking to the official Milan Channel and remarked:
“I believe the present Milan side, contrary to what journalists say, is a strong squad with five super champions in attack which no other Italian team can match. We feel very strong and I’m certain we will be protagonists in Serie A. I have faith in a good
season.”
However, Berlusconi conceded that the club is not able to afford the high wage bill it could once afford, however; he reiterated that they will still remain highly competitive in the upcoming season, and commented:
“The economical situation doesn’t allow us to have highly-paid players, like those which have marked our previous transfer campaigns. Milan can’t afford that, but it doesn’t mean we are giving up on winning.”
Besides Montolivo’s transfer, Milan have signed Francesco Acerbi and Kevin Constant for the upcoming campaign.
