Bermuda v Suriname – International Cricket Council Americas Region Division One - First Innings Recap
Bermuda set a humongous total against Suriname, in an International Cricket Council Americas Region Division One Twenty20 match, on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bermuda-c2853 posted 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets from their quota of 20 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arun-Gokoel-c46102 was the most economical bowler from Suriname. He conceded 20 runs and took one wicket from the three overs which he bowled.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Suriname-c3013’s bowlers as both batsmen reached half-centuries.
Cann, the right-handed batsman, was seemingly unstoppable as he top scored with 63 runs from 35 deliveries, which included five fours and two massive sixes. On the other hand, Helm took 46 deliveries to score his 50.
Cann and Hemp made full use of the power play. The attacking pair set their eyes on Suriname’s skipper, Troy Dudnath, as the bowler received special treatment from them. He went for 10 runs in an over.
Dudnath made a bowling change and introduced spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Giovani-Gokoel-c60104, but to no avail, as batsmen rolled over any obstacle that came in their way.
The opening pair put on a partnership of 93 runs as it made life easy for batsmen to follow. Hemp was the silent partner in their innings and his emphasis was on rotating the strike, while his partner was the aggressor.
Sauid Drepaul was the one who halted Bermuda’s innings, as he got rid of explosive Cann in the 10th over. Aggressiveness got the better of the right-hand batsman and sticking to line and length paid for the bowler as he clean bowled Cann.
Helm was then accompanied by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fiqre-Salassie-Crockwell-c57029. The run-rate dropped tremendously while these two batsmen were at the crease.
Suriname’s skipper ended their partnership when Bermuda was 137; he collaborated with Vishwar Shaw, to see the back of Hemp, in the 17th over.
Dudnath struck again, two runs later, when Crockwell was trapped in front of the stumps. Crockwell made a valuable contribution of 20 runs.
Wicket-keeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dean-Anthony-Minors-c53374 was the last batsman to be dismissed and scored just one run. Gokoel claimed his wicket as well.
Suriname needed to score at over 8 runs per over in order to win the match and remain in contention for the championship.
