Bernard Hopkins, Chad Dawson confident ahead of their bout at Staples Center – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Council’s and The Ring Light Heavyweight champion, Bernard Hopkins and the former World Boxing Council’s, International Boxing Federation’s and International Boxing Organisation’s light heavyweight champion, Chad Dawson, are both
confident ahead of their fight on October 15, 2011.
The Executioner, Hopkins, who will defend his title against the former title holder and mandatory challenger, Chad Dawson, on October 15, 2011 at the Staples Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, reckons his 17 years younger opponent cannot cope up with a problematic
situation, as he thinks Dawson lost his title last year due to some unspecified problem.
However, Hopkins claims due to his vast experience he knows how to deal with problems in the ring. Therefore, the 46-year-old combatant, Hopkins, who beat the Canadian Jean Pascal to become the oldest boxer to win a world title, declared he is going to use
to his experience to outclass Dawson on the fight night.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “You know how many times I fought with problems, and won? That's what separates certain athletes from others, that's the separation of me and [Dawson]. I don't care what I go through, I'm going to use it to win.”
“Any adversity, he bails out,” Hopkins added. “What happens in the ring when things don't go his way?”
The 29-year-old Dawson, who has won 30 of his 32 professional fights (1 no contest), with 17 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, on the other hand thinks he is far superior to Hopkins in all departments.
Dawson stated he is younger, faster and stronger than Hopkins. Moreover, the Bad, Dawson, revealed beating Hopkins has always been his ultimate dream and he is happy he has finally got a chance to fulfil his dream.
“I'm faster, stronger, younger. [Hopkins] hasn't shown over the last decade that he can beat a guy like me,” Dawson said. “This is my ultimate dream, to be in the ring and dethrone Bernard Hopkins — it's a great opportunity for my career.”
