Bernard Hopkins: Chad Dawson is facing a guy with a doctorate in boxing – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Council’s and the Ring Magazine’s Light Heavyweight champion, Bernard Hopkins, is up in the air ahead of his fight against the Bad, Chad Dawson, on October 15, 2011.
The Executioner, Hopkins, who is set to defend his title against the former title holder and mandatory challenger, Chad Dawson, at the Staples Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, reckons his experience will be too much for Dawson to handle.
The former World Boxing Council’s, International Boxing Federation’s and International Boxing Organisation’s light heavyweight champion, Chad Dawson, claimed in the press conference that he will easily beat Hopkins since he is 17 years younger to him.
However, Hopkins, who beat the Canadian Jean Pascal to become the oldest man ever to win a heavyweight title at the age of 46, believes he is still a lot younger. Hopkins remarked Dawson has no experience as compared to him and that will become a reason
for him to lose the fight.
Though Hopkins admitted the fact he is not as good as a 26-year-old man, he said he can still dance very well and knock people down.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Chad Dawson has two problems. He's [facing] a guy with a Ph.D. in boxing whose birth certificate says he's 46, but who's a lot younger than that when it comes to the physical side. Now, I'm not the same person I
was at 26. I get cramps. I get aches. I'm human. If you pinch me, I'll say 'Ouch.' But I don't feel anything like 46, and I don't fight anything like 46.”
“You take Chad Dawson's resume and my resume if you're applying for a job, OK? Harvard,” he said, pointing to himself.
This is going to be Hopkins first defence of the historic title. Therefore, a lot of people will have their eyes set on him. Let’s see whether Hopkins is able win against Dawson or not.
