Bernard Hopkins-Jean Pascal promo video released
The Score Television Network has released a promotional video hyping the upcoming December 18 title bout between boxing legend Bernard Hopkins and champion Jean Pascal.
The video presents both fighters in mini-interview style and extracts compelling arguments from each why they think they will win.
“I am a sharp shooter,” Hopkins begins. “He [Pascal] will shoot all over the place. Pascal is a guy that gets winded, he gets wild.”
Hopkins, a ring veteran for over 20 years, will be weeks shy of his 46th birthday when he takes on the 26-year-old Pascal. In his legendary career, Hopkins has taken on a slew of top fighters in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, including
Roy Jones Jr., Oscar De la Hoya, Jermain Taylor, Kelly Pavlik, Antonio Tarver and Felix Trinidad.
“Bernard Hopkins is a smart fighter, he’s clever, and he has a lot of experience,” Pascal retorted. “He’s the legend, but he made history. This is in the past. I’m the present, I’m the new kid on the block.”
Pascal is coming off an astonishing victory over Chad Dawson, who was heavily favoured to win their August contest. Pascal convincingly handed Dawson his first professional loss, by showing no fear and pouncing on his opponent at every viable opportunity.
“There is nothing in boxing that I haven’t seen,” Hopkins contested. “You don’t pass the torch outside of the ring. You pass it in the ring. I hope that history will reflect that the kind of fighter I am is the kind of fighter that is capable of doing
anything, anyway, anyhow, any style.”
Though Hopkins has 58 professional fights to his name, a contest in Canada will be his first. He said that he anticipates a crowd that is largely against him, but that he tends to work best in that environment.
Pascal is looking to solidify his credentials and assert himself as the bearer of a new generation of fighters.
