Bernard Hopkins fully geared up ahead of his fight with Chad Dawson – Boxing news
The 46-year-old, Bernard Hopkins, who is the current World Boxing Council and The Ring Light Heavyweight champion, is fully geared up ahead of his fight with the former WBC, IBF and IBO light heavyweight champion, Chad Dawson, as he insisted he wants to
make history once again.
Hopkins, who is more commonly known as the Executioner, beat the Canadian boxer Jean Pascal on May 21, 2011 to become the oldest boxer ever to win a world title. He is once again fully confident for his upcoming bout for The Ring, WBC, WBC Diamond and Light
Heavyweight titles this Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Los Angeles, US.
Hopkins, who is a winner of 52 of his 60 professional fights (2 Draws, 1 no contest), with 34 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he is still in his best shape and he still wants to compete with the best in the division.
Hopkins said, “On Saturday night, I want to put another page in the history book of my career. If I am still going to compete and be the best in the division, and part of the conversation of the best in boxing, then this fight is the next step.”
The 29-year-old, Chad ‘Bad’ Dawson, who holds a record of winning 30 of his 32 professional fights (1 no contest), with 17 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, has not been able to win his last five or six fights impressively. However, Hopkins wants
Dawson to be in a good shape this time.
“He has to come out in character and not be the Dawson that he has been for many of his fights. When you have the name ‘Bad’ and you’re not Michael Jackson, you have to be able to own that [and his] name doesn’t match the last three or four outcomes – they
call me ‘The Executioner’ for a reason,” Hopkins added.
Let’s see if Hopkins can really win against his 17 years younger opponent in the ring.
