Bernard Lacombe discusses the good and the bad of the current campaign – Ligue 1 news
Special adviser to president of Olympique Lyonnais Jean-Michel Aulas, Bernard Lacombe does not speak the language of wood. The Frenchman never hesitates to say what he has in his hearth whether he’s talking to the president or the media.
Though, this attribute has been the downfall of many advisors in recent years, this has become a special trait of Lacombe which is well respected and appreciated by Aulas who calls Lacombe his second hand.
Former Olympique Lyonnais coach Claude Puel never enjoyed his relationship with Lacombe.
During the current international break, Lacombe was invited by Le Progres to take stock of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130’ start to the 2011/2012 campaign.
Lacombe expressed his satisfaction at how things have gone for the seven-time Ligue 1 champions and spoke about Bakary Kone and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Lacazette-c4895.
“Bakary Kone made a fantastic start. And then there’s Lacazette who has proved himself to be a professional. He reminds me a lot of Sylvain Wiltord by the way he catches the ball and plays fair,” said Lacombe.
Lacombe also praised Clement Grenier and other youngsters at the club who are slowly coming into the limelight this season. Though Lacombe admits that his young charges are still very inexperienced, he says that the youngsters are happy to play and always
do what is asked of them.
However, Lacombe pointed out that the club has seen a slump recently largely due to injuries as fatigue plays a vital role in what is going to happen in the remainder of the season.
Lacombe said that his side had played some great football and then there were some complicated results such as the defeat at the hands of Lille.
Olympique Lyonnais were criticised for not putting up a fight against La Liga giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League group stages. Lacombe was also disappointed by that performance. Although the Frenchman admitted that there is a vast gulf between
the two sides, his players were a bit too respectful towards their opponents who thoroughly beat them both home and away.
While talking about the injuries, Lacombe said that though the return of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ederson-c11880 and Gourcuff is good news, the duo will take some time to get back in top form. The loss of Bastos is also a major worry as the Brazilian was very influential for Les Gones
before his injury.
Lacombe is definitely satisfied at the work being done by Remi Garde even though the club is likely to experience a few problems here and there. However, unlike Claude Puel, Garde is still in the good books of a man who will most certainly have a say on
Garde’s contract renewal.
