With five assists and one goal in his ten games for Olympique Lyonnais, 32-year-old midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steed-Malbranque-c33957 has become indispensable to coach Remi Garde. The experienced attacking midfielder’s has been influential for Les Gones so far this season which
is something Jean-Michel Aulas’ advisor, Bernard Lacombe has noted very keenly.
While talking to media regarding the club’s new signing, Lacombe praised Malbranque by saying that he is the same player he was when he joined the club initially as a youngster almost a decade ago, with his passion for the game still intact.
“For a coach, he is a joy to have under his command. He is a great guy who never says anything. At the age of 32, he is as he was before. I still see him as a generous person, who is passionate about the game. He has a great mentality, is a competitor, technically
strong and mentally and physically incredible.”
Lacombe was one of those people who helped Malbranque settle in his new surroundings when he was only 15. And, when Malbranque arrived at the club as a teenager, Labrune knew that he had the makings of a great player which is why he has the ability to change
the course of the game.
However, despite spending long stints with English Premier League clubs like Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland, Lacombe says that Malbranque has not changed a bit and is a big helping hand to the younger players at the club.
“In fact, he was what he is now. He has not changed. He is always eager and proves to be a leader. On the ground, he advises youngsters.”
Confident about his ability and strength, the Belgium-born midfielder has captivated every one’s imagination at Lyon by doing some very different things in training.
“There are things that do not lie. Football is a team sport. One morning in training, he scored two or three crazy goals. The guys cheered. It does not happen often that players applaud eachother in training.”
