Bernard Tomic eyes Top-10 ATP rankings in 2013 season – Tennis News
Aussie tennis prodigy, Bernard Tomic, has expressed his determination to break into the Top-10 ATP World Tour Rankings by the end of the 2013 circuit. The 20-year-old currently placed at number 52 among male tennis players but
he believes his game is improving day by day and he is able to accomplish his dream in the next season.
No doubt Tomic is one of the fastest rising tennis stars from his country and has immense potential to reach the elite Top-10 ranks. His early career has been tainted with a number of controversies and yet he is very confident
to rise in the upcoming ATP World Tour. He believes in his strengths and eyes to cash on his rivals’ weaknesses to bag some championship titles in 2013.
"I’d like to reach the top 10 by the end of the year. I’m sure if I do the right things and commit like I’ve agreed to myself I’ll do quite well but I’ve got to focus," he said. "It’s tough, you're going to lose some matches but
as long as I keep my head down and work the way I’ve been working the last two months then I’ll get results. There were some tournaments to defend and I got used to the pressure (but) I didn’t quite handle it well. I feel I learnt a lot this year and it’s
going to help me a lot for the start of 2013."
The world number 52 didn’t have a fruitful 2012 campaign. He featured a total of 53 matches, winning 26 out of those and suffering defeats in 27 encounters. Tomic failed to bag a single championship title due to inconsistent performances.
He took a positive start to the 2012 season by reaching the semi-finals of Brisbane International and then the fourth round of the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament. His form deteriorated after that and suffered initial round exits in most of the tournaments
to follow. The Australian number two couldn’t even reach the final round of any ATP World Tour event throughout the season. However, his determination is strong and no wonders he might claim a decent spot in the ATP rankings by the end of the 2013 ATP World
Tour.
