Bernard Tomic will not be part of the Australian team for the next Davis Cup – Tennis News
Aussie right-hander, Bernard Tomic, will not be contesting for the next seasons of Davis Cup tie in February against Taiwan due to reliability issues as tennis professional.
The first round of the Asia Oceania zone is scheduled in Taipei from February 1-3, 2013.
The Director Tennis, Craig Tiley told the media, “As a team, we just felt that part of the commitment that we make to athletes and athletes make to the sport is they always put 100 per cent commitment and effort in competing for their country. We just felt
that this decision should provide additional motivation every time he walks on the court to be a total professional in his approach to not only his preparation but competing in the match and post-match. And it would be no different if he was the number one
player in Australia, or the number one player, or a junior.”
Previously, the 20-year-old was charged $1,750 and punished to sign a forceful one year good behaviour contract after his trail in the Gold Court, due to over speeding.
Furthermore, he was charged guilty due to inappropriate and childish conduct in the Surfers Paradise high-rise buildings. Nonetheless, the player of such a high profile needs to exercise a positive impression building and set his properties straight as this
will simply lead in wasting his talent.
Ranked world number 52, Tomic, was titles as “Tomic the Tank Engine” due to outstanding performances. He started his 2012 campaign in remarkable fashion and battled until the semi-finals of the Brisbane International. He clinched a memorable win in the final
round of the AAMI Classic event held at the hard courts of Kooyong and consolidated his win against the more experienced, Mardy fish, in a three set thrilling match.
In the Australian Open Grand Slam Championship, he took maximum advantage of his homeland and displayed an excellent initial serve precision, making it until the fourth round. He suffered a three set defeat at the hands of the Swiss professional, Roger Federer.
However, his performance was not as remarkable as the start but he battled until the second round of both French Open and the US Open. Due to his negligent attitude, he bestowed the opportunity upon Marinko Matosevic to become the Australia’s top ranked
player for the year 2012.
