Bernard Tomic’s car controversy is still new in Monte Carlo – Tennis News
Aussie teen sensation, Bernard Tomic, was entangled in a controversy related to his BMW; way back in January when he was charged for over speeding and rash driving on congested roads. The scene didn’t end there and was cautioned
again for the same purpose that created a lot of hype at that time. Some policemen became his enemies whilst the youngsters fell in love with his gestures.
The 19-year-old Aussie starlet is in France at the moment; contesting in the Association of Tennis Professionals 1000 masters tournament, the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters. In an off-court interview something strange was confessed
by the teenager, “A policeman here, he pulled my dad over while walking. The guy asked him for his licence; just a random check. The guy followed tennis, and he asked: 'How is it going with the car?”
This was something strange for him as the case was closed long time ago but people had never forgotten it yet. Just to keep in mind that no teenager is provided a license to drive such a fast car but Tomic had been given relaxation
from the law authorities to drive his car from home to tennis ground and return trip.
An important thing should be kept in mind that, Tomic was on the verge of being jailed for at least three years with some fine, if he had failed to win the case. However, the intervention of politicians and court appearances cooled
the situation but the issue forced him to miss out the European tour swing in February.
Tomic won his first match in Monte Carlo and marched into the second round of the tournament. In a post-match interview, he stated, “This is my new home. This is where I have to spend most of my time. Australia is too far to travel.
Last year when I was visiting a lot to finish the paperwork, I managed to see a lot of players. I saw Tomas Berdych, Thomas Johansson. A lot of tennis players live here."
He will go head-to-head against the 16th seed Ukrainian, Alexandr Dolgopolov, in the second round.
