Bernd Boente reveals Vitali Klitschko is willing to fight David Haye – Boxing news
Bernd Boente, Vitali Klitschko’s manager, has revealed that David Haye is still negotiating with his fighter for setting up a mega clash early in 2012.
Former World Boxing Association world heavyweight champion David Haye is set to announce his retirement Thursday, October 13, 2011 in a news conference in London but it has now become uncertain.
The British Boxing Board of Council recently confirmed that Haye does not want to renew his boxing licence and is going to walk away from the sport but Boente’s revelation has put everyone in doubt.
Boente stated he is in constant contract with Haye’s manager, Adam Booth, and they are just waiting for a good offer from a channel. He said Vitali, who is currently the World Boxing Council world heavyweight champion, has to fight in February or March 2012
and if by that time they get a good offer from a British channel, the Vitali-Haye fight will happen.
Boente claimed Vitali and Haye both are willing to fight each other but on the same note, he said it all depends on the business card.
The Klitschkos’ promoter Bernd Boente said, “Adam (Booth, Haye’s manager) and myself actually just spoke with each other and we are in constant contact. We are still waiting for some numbers from British TV and then we’ll see if the business case is realistic
and then we will do the fight or Vitali will fight another opponent in February or March next year.”
“Both fighters are willing to do the fight, but it only depends on the business case. When we have all the numbers on the table and know where the fight will happen, we go from there,” Boente added.
The Haye versus Wladimir bout, which happened on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg’s Football stadium in Germany, was one of the biggest bouts in British history and therefore it generated a lot through pay-per-view. Therefore, it is fair to say that Haye’s bout
with Vitali will also generate a good figure.
