Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno could possibly stay at the club beyond his loan spell, which ends on December 31. The goalkeeper was talking ahead of his club’s next league fixture against FC Nurnberg, which is set to be played on Saturday, September
17.

The player landed at BayArena during the summer after Giefer suffered a concussion during the club’s opening game of the season against FC Koln. He was later ruled out for up to three months, calling for the recruitment of Bernd Leno from Stuttgart. Since

The Werkself manager, Robin Dutt, reserved praise for the 19-year-old saying that the German youth star has been a revelation ever since he landed at BayArena. He further added that the youngster has already impressed in such a short span and could extend
his stay at the club. Dutt also hinted at a new contract for Leno, meaning the player could represent Leverkusen during the next season too.
While talking to the local website, the teenager himself enthused, "I've read that [Stuttgart sporting director] Fredi Bobic said that I must come back. But Bayer [Leverkusen] play in the Champions League, Stuttgart don't. I can imagine staying here.”
Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobic refrained from making any comments about the player’s wishes. He believes that the youngster has every right to think about his future and there is no harm if he feels that way. Bobic further told that the club will
only decide about Leno’s transfer if Leverkusen come up with an official request.
He concluded the remarks by saying, "I have no desire to answer questions on this every week. I am more concerned with the goalkeepers who are currently at the club."
Leverkusen are currently fourth on the league table with 12 points and will next be in action against FC Koln on Saturday, September 17.
