The former Real Madrid coach believes that Barcelona should have sacked the Catalan mentor for his negative comments towards the Spanish La Liga title.
The Catalan coach, Josep Guardiola, has won each and every trophy within his reach, while being in charge of affairs at the Nou Camp.
Josep Guardiola took charge of Barcelona during the 2008-2009 season and helped them win all the six trophies which were available to them. Next season, Guardiola was on song yet again as he helped Barcelona win La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Last season, Guardiola again helped Barcelona win the Champions League and the Spanish La Liga, even with Jose Mourinho being in charge of affairs at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, this season things have changed as the Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, has taken Real Madrid to a whole new level and currently commands a lead of four points over the current Spanish champions.
Barcelona were 10 points behind Real Madrid during the month of March and Josep Guardiola gave up on the Spanish La Liga title race almost a month ago.
The Catalan coach said that winning the league will be next to impossible for his team, as Real Madrid commanded a 10-point lead over them.
However, recently, Real Madrid have shown a dip-in-form and they drew three fixtures to drop six points, allowing Barcelona to come within touching distance of the league leaders.
Currently, Barcelona are only four points behind Madrid, meaning that Los Blancos rarely have the room to breathe in La Liga.
Regarding Josep Guardiola’s comments about the Spanish La Liga title challenge, Bernd Schuster believes Barcelona should have fired their coach as he was fired for the same reason back in 2008.
He said that Guardiola should have been given his marching orders as he has already given up on the title challenge and a team like Barcelona should not allow that to happen.
While speaking to the press, Schuster was quoted as saying:
"I cannot understand why they did not sack Guardiola when he said that Barca could not win La Liga.”
"Clubs normally do it."
