He made the turn to a more prolific back nine.
He carded a birdie on the 11th and dropped a shot at par-three, 13th and went into a remarkable stretch of two consecutive birdies and a closing eagle at par-five, 18th to close the round for five-under, 67.
He said, “I hit a terrible, terrible tee shot on 14 but got a break with it and hit a good shot in and knocked in the birdie. From there on, I hit only good shots”.
A group of top-ranked European Tour players including Spaniard Miguel Angel Jiménez, England’s Anthony Wall and Chile’s Felipe Aguilar are tied for the fourth position, trailing the leader by three shots.
The Ryder Cup hero from Spain, Jimenez has done well in the season and although he may not have won a title as yet, he is hoping to bag the €2,205,000 event before heading into the heat of the summer.
Against a humble beginning on the first day where he settled for an even-par, 72, Jimenez utilised the better playing conditions on the second day and finished for a four-under, 68 with four birdies.
Another group of four players is tied for the seventh spot, including Graeme Storm, Alexander Noren, Oliver Fisher and Ji-ho Jung.
Overnight leader Richie Ramsay fell for a surprise even-par, 72 on the second day although the conditions remain docile for the players to pitch for low scores.
He is now tied for the 11th spot alongside Englishmen Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and five others.
The fifth edition of the Ballantine’s Championship has brought in rare blends of the wine which is brewed especially by the tournament officials.
Many of the European players consider it to be the biggest impetus of visiting the Far Eastern country to tee-off in the event.
Fraser said, “It's obviously just the alcohol – I can't really survive without it! It's obviously one of our premiere events now on The European Tour, and Ballantine's have been such a great sponsor and product. It’s just a great week and somewhere I love coming back”.
The event features some of the top-ranked players in the world and also includes the raging Korean players who are eager to bag the home title.
