Bernese Mountain Dog with Bone Cancer?

Update on my big boy!

He's back from the Vets about an hour ago and he's had his right hind leg amputated, it was really upsetting but at least we know that we've got rid of the cancer, we only hope that it hasn't spread yet.

Please make sure you check your dog regularly and that you get him to the vet as soon as there is a problem, Bernese Mountain Dogs suffer with Osteosarcoma really frequently, and you only know when they start limping.

At the moment he's pleased to be home and is laying on the floor having a good nap!

We start the Chemotherapy in about 10 days.

  1. Thank you so much for the update!!  Both you, and your boy are in my prayers!

  2. So glad that he is back with you and he is currently cancer free.

Its such a shame that such a loving and beautiful dog can go through this and as you said suffers from this quite a lot.

Good luck with the chemo and a big Berner hug from me and my boy.

  3. Thanks for keeping us posted...

    Hugs to your boy

  4. Sorry to hear about this- Cancer is such an ugly thing..but you are doing everything you possibly can and that is great because some owners would not even pay for such procedures and treatment. So I hope you are blessed with more miracles ! And dogs are so resilient and learn to adapt and he will learn to be quite mobile with 3 legs. Good luck !
