  1. BMD's are supposed to be wonderful family dogs that adapt well to family life.  Bull Mastiff's tend to be a bit harder to handle, and require more firm leadership than a BMD would.  Not sure about excercise requirements for either of the breeds.

  2. well Bernese Mountain Dogs are beautiful!!! vs Bull Mastiffs are an ugly cute haha.

plus Berenese Mountain Dogs are not very common so it's easier to find a reputable breeder.

Bull Mastiffs are also beautiful in their own way..

I've never actually owned either but I do want a Bernese Mountain dog next!

  3. I'm  not an expert in either breed, but have researched both when selecting my most recent puppy.  Berners are very sweet dogs, my cousin had one.  More coat, which means more regular grooming.  Also, the breed has a serious issue with cancer.  Many Berners die of cancer before making it to 3 years old, and very few make it past 6 years.  This is something to consider if you look at the breed seriously.

Bull Mastiffs do have shorter coats, but they shed just as much as Berners.  They also drool, which most Berners don't.  They are very athletic, protective of the home and family, and more of a physical presence if you are looking for protection.  They are also more likely to be dog aggressive, so you will have to socialize the dog well.

    Good luck with your decision!

  4. I am a breeder of Bernese Mountain dogs in AZ.  Berners have many health issues that need to be considered, including a life span that averages only 7 years!  Please feel free to visit my web site an I will be happy to answer additional questions and also visit the National Bernese Mountain Dog club web site.

  5. Can i advise you to go to an all breed show where you will get the chance to see the Bully's and BMD on show. You'll meet breeders and owners alike.

Also get in touch with the breed clubs of your country and speak to the secretarys who are very knowledgeable people and they will assist you further and should be able to recommend breeders locally who you could contact just to go and speak to and meet their dogs.

Neither as a general rule require much exercise, so a jogging partner for either of these breeds is not ideal.

if youre wanting one more for protection then i would say the bull mastiff..
