Bernie Ecclestone has no plans to retire
Bernie Ecclestone will not retire. Despite preparing to celebrate his 80th birthday in one weeks’ time, Bernie was clear when he said that he will stay and lead Formula 1 for quite some time.
Many people including Jean Todt would not be too happy to hear about this news. Everyone knows that Bernie has been a pain in the neck since the past couple of months with wild ideas like an African Grand Prix and what not.
But one has to admit, Bernie has made his mark in the sport and no one can take that away from him. Ecclestone has played a major role in the commercial side of Formula 1 since 1978 and is currently the CEO of Formula 1. Recently, he started to focus on
introducing F1 to newer markets such as the South Korean Grand Prix, going to be held next weekend. He has been controlling the balance of power between the teams and the FIA and has taken Formula 1 to another level since he came into power.
However, it is about time that Bernie passes the sword and retires. Bernie is just so obsessed with what he is doing at the moment that he is not willing to listen to what anyone says.
“If I stop working, I cannot solve problems anymore. If I'm not solving problems, that's the beginning of the end. So I work. And I like to work”, Bernie opined while speaking to a media publication.
Let’s try to make it as simple as we can for Bernie. “We don’t need u anymore grandpa. It has been a long time since everyone is tolerating you and it is about time that someone else takes your seat”.
After he was asked about how F1 teams should detect their successors on the horizon, the CEO answered, “I have no idea. They should probably look out for another used car dealer”.
Yes, you are so funny Bernie. That is why you came up with ideas like an African Grand Prix and a race in the middle of Africa between the Formula 1 cars and cheetahs.
The silver lining out of the entire situation is clear -- Bernie is not leaving the sport anytime soon and everyone will have to tolerate the master for some time.
