Bernie Ecclestone might face corruption charges in Germany – Formula 1 news
Reports have revealed that Formula 1 Management chief Bernie Ecclestone might have to face some charges for his involvement in a corruption case in Germany.
It will be confirmed Wednesday, July 6, 2011 whether Ecclestone will face charges or not but according to the Formula 1 supremo, he has done nothing wrong and he is not aware of what charges he might receive.
“I have done nothing so I have no idea what charges they could bring. I have done what I had to do at all times during this investigation and I have co-operated fully with the people in Germany. As far as I am concerned, there are no problems,” he told the
media.
According to reports, it has been revealed that there is evidence against Bernie which proves he had a link with Gerhard Gribkowsky as $50 million were exchanged between the two.
Gerhard is a former banker and it is believed that this money was exchanged during the sale of Formula 1 to CVC Capital Partners. Gribkowsky has been arrested as he is accused of tax evasion and fraud. It is believed that Bernie is also going to be charged
as a result of a possible dealing with Gribkowsky.
Ecclestone has been employed by Formula 1’s commercial partners, CVC as the head of the Formula 1 Management.
Bernie definitely did not want such accusations especially during such a crucial time when the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the Formula 1 Management want to create a trustworthy bond as the sport is currently going through some major financial
crisis.
Ecclestone has been trying to find his way out of this problem without any charges and has been cooperating with the authorities. Due to that, he travelled to Munich as well in April 2011 in order to meet them.
Let’s see whether or not Bernie Ecclestone faces any charges related to the corruption scandal in Germany or not.
