Bernie Ecclestone puts an end to speculations about 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix– Formula 1 news
Bernie Ecclestone, F1 chief Executive has put an end to the speculations regarding the Bahrain Grand Prix which is going to be held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir on April 22, 2012.
Regardless of the turbulent conditions of civil unrest and public demonstration in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ecclestone and the race organisers have been quite positive about the occurrence of the race event.
Moreover, the 81-year-old insisted that everything is fine for the F1 teams and the spectators in Sakhir while he said that all the necessary security measures have been taken.
Furthermore, after meeting with the team principals between the free Friday practice sessions, Ecclestone said that all of them were contended about the race in Bahrain and it was media only which created all the negative impact on the race event.
“We haven't got any problems. It's a problem being discussed by the media. They don't have any idea what's going on. This race is on the calendar, and has been on the calendar for quite a long time, and we will be there. All the teams are happy to be there,”
said Ecclestone.
Besides, he said that he has known from his sources that the country is in peaceful condition regardless of the media reporting the situation of turmoil in the country.
“The national sporting authority will keep us informed as to what is happening. There's nothing happening. I know people who live there and it's all very quiet and peaceful. There has been enough speculation and things said, and I think it was a good thing
to put something out,” said Ecclestone.
In addition, FIA made the decision that Bahrain GP will go ahead as per this year’s schedule in any case.
Subsequently, Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull Racing said that he fully honour FIA’s decision about race in Sakhir.
On the other hand, Damon Hill, former F1 driver asked FIA to rethink about the race in Bahrain due to social protests in the country while the human rights activists have been keep on saying that the race should be cancelled.
However, now there is no more confusion left regarding the occurrence of race in Bahrain.
