Bernie Ecclestone rejoices over success of inaugural 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Chief of Formula 1 Management Bernie Ecclestone congratulated the race organisers of the Airtel 2011 Indian Grand Prix for putting forth such an amazing show.
The race turned out to be a tremendous success turning down all fears that had mounted before the event.
Bernie too agreed that there was a little bit of confusion and he wasn’t too sure of the fate of this debut race at the Indian soil, however Sunday’s race at the Buddh International Circuit is a testimony to the fact that all fears surrounding the new racetrack
were totally baseless.
There were a few, very minor technical faults noticed at the track which the organisers hope to clear out for the 2012 event. However, such minor issues can easily be ignored keeping in mind that this was only the first race and constructing such a racetrack
and making it fully operational within such a short deadline is something that is extraordinary and deserves acknowledgement and appreciation.
Ecclestone while speaking to the Times of India said, “What they had to build here in the short amount of time is just incredible. I've seen what happens at most new races and new tracks.”
The race was attended by 95,000 fans that had come to witness the action of Formula 1 at the fantastic Hermann-Tilke designed circuit on Sunday, October 30, 2011. The race was extensively covered that provided the viewers with exclusive coverage of all events
of the race.
The success of the 2011 Indian Grand Prix has in fact opened a new era in motorsports, as FIA is now keen on exploring new places for holding the races.
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said, “It has been brilliant. The reaction that we have had from the Indian public and the fans, and the way they have been so excited about F1, is that they feel truly privileged to have a race here.”
The track has received appreciation from all quarters with regards to its unique infrastructure and design and all the drivers thoroughly enjoyed their drive, terming it a truly delightful experience.
What happens from this point on is extensive an rigorous follow-up work on the racetrack to solidify its place on the Formula 1 calendar for next season and in an effort to make the future races more enjoyable and exciting.
