Bernie Ecclestone says Vettel’s wins more noteworthy than Schumacher’s – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has stated that Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is facing tougher time in the 2011 Formula 1 season than Michael Schumacher faced in his era, back in early 2000’s.
Ecclestone stated that Vettel’s wins are therefore more important to the ones Schumacher secured as the older German did not face any challenge whatsoever.
The 80-year-old Formula 1 head honcho, who is friends with Vettel, also commented that Red Bull should have their era just like Ferrari had.
Inclined towards Vettel, Ecclestone added that the German has taken the role of the ambassador of Formula 1 sport much better than Fernando Alonso.
Vettel won his sixth race of the 2011 season in Valencia and 16th of his career. Ecclestone already is labelling him better than Schumacher who has 91 wins to his name.
Ecclestone stated, “Sebastian is in a similar position as Michael (Schumacher), Sebastian is the best right now and that's why he is dominating, and that's what makes it so interesting for the fans, the competition Sebastian is facing is much bigger than
that confronted by Michael. That makes Seb's wins even more noteworthy.”
Ecclestone also went on to say that Red Bull should also have their dominating era just Like Ferrari had in the early part of the 21st century.
Sebastian Vettel has been on the podium on all the eight occasions of the 2011 Formula 1 season which is a remarkable achievement. Along with that, he has been able to take seven pole positions, which critics referred to as Blown Diffuser-aided, but still
Ecclestone sees him as a match of the German.
Ecclestone also stated that Vettel has played a good role as an ambassador of Formula 1 which Alonso failed to do.
“I complained about Fernando Alonso who in my view didn't represent Formula One well enough,” commented Ecclestone.
The 2011 Formula 1 season continues in Silverstone and Vettel has a substantial lead to challenge the title of the youngest Formula 1 defending champion, a record currently held by Alonso.
